The Long Way Home

The Long Way Home is a new piece for full orchestra. Built off a single melody, the piece presents the main structure of the theme in various fragments and permutations until the full theme is finally heard at the end of the piece.
 
Conceived as a reflection of the circuitous and meandering path many of us take to reach our goals, the piece takes the listener through the processes of dreaming about possibilities, determined pursuit of one's goals with occasional moments of questioning and doubt, and ultimately achievement with a hint of a new pursuit to come.
 
The Long Way Home would be a great addition to many school orchestra concerts as well as pops performances where a broader repertoire is desired.
